There will be no admission charge to this event for those responding by May 13th. After May 13, $25 per person; children under 5 free. All are requested to donate/send donations (preferably $100 per family) to defray the expense and raise some funds to support philanthropic projects in Bihar/Jharkhand.

Global Bihar Meet in Patna - Jan 19-21, 2007

Bihar Government has planned a Global Meeting of NRIs in Patna on January 19 thru 21, 2007. Over 500 eminent people from across the world are expected to participate in this global meet to discuss development strategies for a resurgent Bihar.
BJANA is considering to send a delegation of people who is interested in helping Bihar in its development process. The celebration was a GRAND SUCCESS and BJANA Executive Committee is very gratified and elated by the rave review of the cultural program and the overall management. BJANA Picnic 2006 - A Great Success

Over 100 people from all age group gathered and relished the event on a sunny and hot summer day. They savored typical Bihari food starting with appetizing ghughany/murhi and ending with delicious khichari/bharta, and bhutta,chicken, hot dog in between, topped by tarbuja/other fruits and mithai. Musical chair game for children and adults were enjoyed by all.Raffle added to the excitement. Prizes were distributed to winners and all young children. The event was broadcasted live on EBC radio by Atul Kumar. Thanks to Sudhansu Prasad for arranging this.

Major credit for cooked food goes to Maya Kumar/ Sangeeta Kumar/Sarla Khemka, and for organizing music, game and prizes to Shalini & Sugriv Barnwal. Credits are also due to Sunil Sinha/upendra Sinha/Pankaj Sinha/ Navin Sinha/ Rakesh Sinha/Ranjana Sinha/ Uday varma/Atul Kumar/ Ranbir Kumar/ Pramod Kumar/Gaya Agrawal. It was an unqulified success from every point, and the Executive Committee thanks all participants.

BJANA Hosts Jharkhand Chief Minister

Bihar Jharkhand Association Of North America hosted Jharkhand Chief Minister on Sunday, July 23, 2006 - first NRI investment MoU signed. Please visit Photo Gallary for more pictures.

BJANA hosted a luncheon meeting for visiting Jharkhand Chief Minister, Mr. Arjun Munda and his team on Sunday, July 23 at the residence of Drs. Arvind and Chitra Kumar. BJANA president, Mr. Birendra Kumar greeted the visiting and local dignatories, including Congressman, Frank Palone and exhorted the community to come together and work for common good for our people in this country as well as back home in India.


The Chief Minister spoke about the progress and opportunities in his young and "Organic" state and asked for help in the field of health care and agriculture. His government has taken initiative to provide about 250 acres of land to open a "Health Park" near Ranchi to house a multi-specialty hospital and residential complex. The Special Secretary to Jharkhand CM, Mr. R.N.Sharma highlighted the investment opportunities in Health Care services.

The meeting culminated with signing of a historical MoU for opening a state of the art specialized cancer care center in Ranchi, Jharkhand which will provide screening, diagnosis and treatment of all kinds of cancer. Such facility only exists in select cities in India and would help the people of Jharkhand and neighboring states who otherwise had to make trips to bigger cities like Mumbai for diagnosis and treatment.

Several dozen BJANA members attended the event and had an opportunity to discuss about ideas /projects for state of Jharkhand.
